Poem by Enock S. Mong'are
ETHIOPIA MUST NEVER FALL
“Selam!” my people, am sorry for this uncouth attitude that
has caused you to worry much. The silence has now been broken, let us march
with zeal to redeem our Ethiopia and attain our visualized utopia.
Ethiopia! You must never crumble, for even the colonialists
could not scramble for your land. Do not allow ethnicity to supersede your
dignity, for it will cause instability. Are the Tigray people, Oromo and others
not children of one womb? Why do you want us to have many tombs? Peace! My
brethren, pieces we do not wish witness, hatred we wish discarded, love we wish
spread.
Are you not the seat of African Union? Why are you
showcasing disunion? Is this not giving the serpent dominion over our human
principles? Folks! No! No! We cannot watch and assume, we rather thatch our
leaking hut but not seek pleasure in our restless hearts. Where will we get
coffee Arabica from? Or you want us to have toffee for our breakfast and cold
seasons?
